As we approach the end of the Church Age, the churches are being
warned as they were throughout the New Testament and particularly
in the book of Revelation, chapters 2 and 3, that ungodly attitudes
and behaviors must be overcome if we are to live with the Lord, Jesus
Christ in the New Jerusalem. Don't be like the Israelites who did not
enter the promised land for the following reasons...
First, the Israelites thought that because they were the chosen people
of God, He would not keep them from reaching the promise land. But,
we know that thousands died in the wilderness and never made it.
There are many Christians today who believe like the Israelites, that
just because they have professed Christ that they will be partakers in
the New Jerusalem. But, Christ clearly warns through His parables and
through His Revelation message to the seven churches, that this is
just not the case. Many will fall by the way side, because they did not
put their belief into action.
Secondly, their ungodly behavior included: grumbling, immorality,
idolatry, and being tempters of God. These are some of the same
behaviors that so-called Christians exhibit today and which are
mentioned in the message to the churches in Revelation, chapters 2
and 3. If we don’t overcome the mistakes that the Israelites made, we
may very well die in the wilderness too, as one whole generation of
Israelites did, and never reach the promise land.
